You Can Do A Lot With A Little!

My dear husband has shown me how to stretch a dollar time and time again. We began building our house almost 2 and a half years ago. I always new he was a saver but I had no idea just how much until he started assembling our "new" home out supplies he had been collecting over the years from different sources.

In this house we have studs and porch posts from an old church. Our siding came off a barn. The cinder blocks in the foundation were from an old factory. The shelving in the bathroom is old hardwood flooring. Our back porch is lathing from an old church roof.
Then we tapped into craigslist. We found windows, doors, toilets, cabinets, and insulation.
He also showed me how to use trees downed in a storm by taking them to a saw mill. We have used downed trees for trim, doors, floors, porches, shelving, and walls too!

But it doesn't end there! He built his own baby gate latch, used dead cedar for the porch railings, and even made a seasonal curtain rod. His only tools are a chop saw, table saw, and a scroll saw. But you could do all these things with a jig saw and circular saw.
A lot can be done with a little! All you need is some creativity, some time, and a few tools.
